If you're an experienced web user you probably don't need much instruction to get started on our class reunion website. Just head over to the green "Sign Up" button under "New Members" at the upper right and click, click, click away! For those of you a bit new to the internet, here's some step-by-step instructions that will get you fully in gear on our wonderful 24/7 class meeting room.
If you'd like to check out the website's features before you get registered, feel free to click on any of the menu items along the left side of this page. When you're ready to sign in and join the rest of us here, make your first stop in the upper right corner of this page. Under "New Members", click the green button that says "Sign Up."
Type in your contact information in the form that's presented to you on the next page. Click "Continue" at the bottom. You are then brought to the Profile form. The first item is the "Message" section. It's a box that allows you to have a quick "shout out" to all the rest of us -- kind of a top-of-mind comment you might make when we actually meet up in person, such as "What? It's been 50 years? Really? Are you sure?" (If you're drawing a blank, you can pass this over for now and come back to it any time after you've finished getting registered.) When completed, your message will appear along with your name and photo(s) in the Classmates section.
Below the Message box is where you can enter your life story. Well, a short version anyway. There may be a character limit on how much you can type in the "Bio", so it's going to have to be the "short story" version. (Again, if you're drawing a blank, you can pass this over for now and come back to it any time after you've finished getting registered.) When completed, your bio will appear in the "Our Lives" section. Note that this is a manual transfer we make back here at Reunion HQ, and it may take a day or so for the minions to get it done. And, actually, rather than enter the info into the "Bio" section of the sign-up form, you can just enter it directly into the "Life Stories" section, saving us a manual transfer back at Reunion HQ.
In the next section, "Privacy", we ask you to click the "Yes" button where it asks if you grant permission for us to publish your bio in our to-be-published Memory Book. Not sure why that's really there since if you didn't want it shared, why type it in in the first place??
The next item is the "Then" picture. Don't worry about that; we'll take care of that. We have all the senior pictures scanned, and they're just waiting to be dropped into place once you've registered on the site. The "Now" photo, though, is up to you! If you have a head shot of yourself, or can crop one of your photos so that it's just your head showing, please click the "Choose File" button, and locate it on your computer's hard drive. Note: Many of us also want to upload family photos, especially with the grandkids, etc. We have a place just for that: the "Photos-Family" section. (As above, if you don't have a head shot ready to upload, it can be done later.)
Near the bottom, please indicate if you plan to attend the reunion. Click "Continue" at the bottom. The next page you see is the order form for events and products. As it says at the top, "You may place an order now if you'd like, or just press the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page to proceed. You can always come back later and make your reservations and order product. If you simply insert the number 1 or 2 for the number of people attending a event where there is no charge (for example Friday Night Meet & Greet," that is all that's necessary.
You will next see the "Survey" page. These questions gather information and also serve to entertain — especially when we tally up some of the results of our wacky questions! As in the previous sections, you can take the survey at this time, or visit it anytime later or in a future visit.
You should then see a page that thanks you for signing up. It also says that you will receive a username and password once the organizers have reviewed your profile. From the links at the bottom, you can then view your classmate profile, or return to the Welcome page. You should then receive an email from "Princeton High School Class of 1966" thanking you for your RSVP. Note that if you don't receive a Thank You email right after you complete this, it's possible that something went wrong in the process and you didn't complete the registration. You may want to try again if that's the case.
Reunion organizers are standing by to authorize your request to join the rest of our classmates by providing you with a username and password. It may take a day or so, or it may only be a few hours or minutes.
Once you receive your username and password, come back to our website and log in in the upper right hand corner. After you've done that, you can participate in all aspects of the website, including making reservations, uploading stories, photos, ordering product, and more. When you log in as a registered classmate with your username (email address) and password, you will notice your own personal space at upper right along with your name. You will see your "Then" photo and, under it, a couple of buttons to click. One brings you to your own Profile, and the other brings you to your very own News Feed! After that, just click on any of the menu items running along the left side of the web pages. Clicking on any of the blue underlined text brings you straight to that item.
SPECIAL NOTE: The "Where Are They Now?" menu item has no introductory overview page where any instructions can be left, so here's a helpful note about this terrific feature. Clicking this menu item, found at the far bottom of the menu at left, opens up a new window in your computer's browser. Note also that this feature may not work at all on a portable device. This new window may be a separate browser window or it may be a new tab, if you have configured your browser to always open a new window in a tab. Either works, but a couple of things to keep in mind: First, it is a little slow; it takes several seconds for the website to assemble the geographic data into usable map pins on the U.S. map. Second, once you click on a classmate's name listed along the right side of the window, it zooms to that locality. This is great, but the map stays there with no obvious way to go back to the national view. The only way to return to the view that displays the whole U.S. is to click (repeatedly) the "minus" button at lower right until you see the whole U.S. When you're done viewing this, you can just click back to the main web page to continue viewing other parts of our reunion website.
